About CAPS
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides support for students facing personal challenges and mental health concerns. Services offered at CAPS include short-term individual counseling, group counseling, case management and referral, psychoeducational workshops, and crisis intervention. The CAPS team is comprised of counselor faculty including psychologists, social workers, and marriage and family therapists who specialize in working with a diverse college student population. Services are also provided by graduate-level psychology interns working under the supervision of a licensed counselor. CAPS is home to the Project Ocean program, providing peer-to-peer mental health education and wellness outreach to students. In 2014 CAPS received accreditation from the International Accreditation of Counseling Services organization.
Our Mission
The mission of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is to support our students in achieving their academic goals by improving their psychological and emotional health and overall wellbeing. CAPS achieves its mission by promoting a supportive climate committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access to psychological services. This is done by providing culturally informed mental health services, building community, and training the next generation of mental health professionals. CAPS is dedicated to addressing all forms of systemic oppression, racism, and discrimination.
CAPS is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS).
